What OxyScore does
OxyScore measures your VO2max — the fitness measure most linked to a longer life — explains what it means for your longevity, and helps you train it up with guided, second-by-second heart-rate coaching on your Apple Watch. Every number traces back to a published study.
Common questions
Do I need an Apple Watch?
Yes for the core experience. You can see your VO2max, fitness age, statistics, and the science on iPhone alone, but training and test sessions are started and coached on the Apple Watch — that live, on-wrist coaching is the heart of the app.
Where does my VO2max number come from?
From Apple Health. Apple writes a cardio-fitness (VO2max) estimate after certain outdoor walks, runs, and hikes. OxyScore reads that value and can also derive one from the in-app field tests (Cooper, Rockport, and an indoor max-effort test). If you don't see a number yet, complete a qualifying outdoor workout or an in-app field test.
Is my health data private?
Yes. OxyScore reads your Health data only to compute your metrics on your device. It is never uploaded, sold, or shared — there is no OxyScore server. See our Privacy Policy.
How do I start a free trial or subscribe?
Open OxyScore on your iPhone and follow the prompts to subscribe. Your subscription then works on your Apple Watch automatically, since it's tied to your Apple ID.
Free trials are for new subscribers — one per Apple ID. Apple grants trial eligibility once across the whole OxyScore Membership group, so if a trial has already been used on your Apple ID (on either plan, including on an earlier install), the app won't offer another one and subscribing charges the full price straight away. The paywall shows what actually applies to you before you confirm — that screen is the one to read.
What does it cost?
OxyScore Membership is $29.99/year (14-day free trial for new subscribers) or $4.99/month (1-week free trial for new subscribers), and both plans work with Family Sharing. Prices are in U.S. dollars and vary by region; the current price is always shown in the app before you subscribe. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, and a subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. Full details are in our Terms of Use.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes — OxyScore is for adults 18 and over (and at least the age of majority where you live). The app asks for your date of birth during setup and won't let anyone under 18 continue.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. On your iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → OxyScore, where you can change plan, turn off auto-renew, or cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. Refunds are handled by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com.
I subscribed but the Watch app still asks me to subscribe.
Make sure both apps are signed in to the same Apple ID, then open OxyScore on the Watch and tap "Check again". If needed, use "Restore Purchases" on the iPhone paywall.
My VO2max or metrics look wrong or empty.
Confirm OxyScore has permission in the Health app (Sharing → Apps → OxyScore) and that the underlying data exists in Health. Fitness age needs at least one VO2max reading; some charts need a couple of readings to plot a trend.
Will my streak and progress survive a new iPhone?
Yes, if you're signed in to iCloud. Your weekly-goal streak, grace weeks, weekly goals and unit preference are kept in your own iCloud, and your badges and training level are rebuilt from Apple Health on the new device. No health data is included in that backup. Open Profile → Progress backup in the app to see whether it's on — and to remove the iCloud copy with Delete progress backup, which leaves this iPhone untouched. Details in our Privacy Policy.
Why does my Watch ask me to confirm before a hard session?
Once per protocol, before your first Norwegian 4×4, VO2max 4×3, 10-20-30, Billat 30-30, Cooper test or Indoor Max Effort test, the Watch shows a short notice about cardiac risk. Sudden hard exercise carries the most risk for people not used to it, and the moment that matters is the moment you're about to start — not a screen you read on your iPhone months ago. It appears once per protocol, not every session. Zone 2 and the Rockport walk don't show it.
